Operation Toy Drop

Operation Toy Drop is a fundraiser type event hosted by the Army, wherein, a soldier donates a toy and gets a lottery ticket to get on one of the flight manifests for a "fun" jump to receive a pair of foreign wings.  Mr. N. was one of the lucky ones who had their number called for the lottery, so the herd and I went out to the drop zone to watch him jump and earn his foreign wings.

The herd and I got out there about an hour before he jumped. There were activities for the kids, although we did miss Santa.  The herd each took turns rock climbing up the wall. They also enjoyed some snacks and watched other paratroopers jump.  As is the nature of the herd, they started to get impatient waiting for daddy's flight.  Finally the wait was over, we heard the planes approaching and we all got pretty excited. Watching the paratroopers fall in the sky is such a beautiful sight.

We waited by the ropes where the paratroopers would come up and drop off their rigs.  Mr. N. spotted us and came over to say hi.  Now all we had to do was wait for his group to be called for the ceremony so that he could receive his foreign (German) wings.

It was a bit of a wait and the herd was, once again, getting antsy to see him.  Finally it was the German group and it turned out to be more chaotic than I thought it would be.  Out of nowhere, or at least not that I had noticed, appeared the media and some of the WWE wrestlers.  The herd went nuts! They were so excited to see real live wrestlers.  They each received a toy wrestler and had their pictures taken with them. This is such an awesome memory for them to have.

I even managed to get a picture of my mister while he got pinned with his German Wings

We are so very proud of him. I am so glad that we got to be a part of a very special day for him. Not only that, but that we got to help create a special memory for the herd and our family.

Besides, there is nothing more attractive then to see Mr. N. freshly after he gets off a jump.

Gosh, he's such a hottie.

This just needs to be a numbered list.
1. Yay for Mr. N
2. When we come to visit you (which we mapquested last night) the herd and I are going to watch WWE like nobodys biznass. My husband doesn't truly appreciate the level of white-trash awesome that WWE brings.
3. Your clipboard message made me laugh.
4. I was blog stalking you last night and was incredibly flattered that I'm a favorite, maybe I'll buy myself a blog redesign and get one of those fancy buttons for Christmas :)
5. Happy Wednesday!

very cool! We actually had German soldiers come train with my hubs National Guard unit over the summer (and in exchange they sent some soldiers from his unit to Germany to train with them) It was interesting to see their different uniforms etc.
